Led a Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City team in an FMS effort to modernize a MCM minesweeping winch (MSW) and line tensiometer system for installation on MHS class ship in the South Korean Navy. This effort involved working with the OEM to convert 3 US Navy MSW electric drive systems back to the original hydraulic configuration with Form, Fit and Function (FFF), motors, manifolds and various other components. Working with the OEM, led the development of a line tensiometer system, that included a PLC, tension displays and instrumented sheaves. These systems were installed and tested and were accepted by the South Korean Navy. This effort was so successful the South Korean Navy is planning on installing these systems on 6 more MHS class ships.
Worked with NSWC-Phila in providing support to the Taiwan Navy as part of an FMS task. This task involved an assessment of the Multi-purpose crane (MPC) and boat crane on the 1310 and 1311 Mine hunting class ships. The inspection resulted in parts be ordered and installed to improve reliability and operational performance. The systems were tested and made fully operational. The MPC is responsible or launching and recovering the mine neaautializtion vehicle (MNV). Training was provided for the proper procedures and operation of the MPC.
